Beijing, China – May 20, 2020 – Xsens, a manufacturer of inertial sensor modules, today announced that a new generation of cost-effective inertial sensor products will have centimeter-level positioning capabilities with the company’s launch of new RTK-compatible inertial navigation products.

Using the RTK (Real Time Kinematics) extension function based on conventional satellite positioning signals can reduce the maximum positioning error of the GNSS receiver from about ±1 meter to about ±2 cm. Companies developing innovative new products in non-military markets such as smart agriculture, autonomous vehicles, and marine equipment have been keen to leverage high-precision RTK capabilities to enable new applications and more automation.

Today, with the launch of MTi-680G, a new product in the MTi 600 series, Xsens is the first inertial navigation product manufacturer to support RTK functionality. The MTi-680G is an integrated GNSS/Inertial Navigation System (INS) Module with an integrated RTK GNSS receiver that also provides synchronized 3D attitude (tilt) and heading outputs.

The new MTi-680G is also equipped with upgraded companion software that can significantly increase the module’s internal signal processing speed compared to non-RTK modules. By synchronizing the global positioning coordinates with the module’s attitude, heading and speed output, the MTi-680G can provide comprehensive positioning and navigation output for any carrier device, including devices such as drones that move at high speeds with a maximum output data rate of 400Hz.

This RTK-enabled module also offers the following features that set it apart from the competition:
