SiCrystal, a ROHM Group company, and STMicroelectronics reach agreement on long-term supply of silicon carbide (SiC) wafers

ROHM and STMicroelectronics (hereinafter referred to as “ST”), the world’s leading semiconductor manufacturers, announced that the two parties will supply silicon carbide (hereinafter referred to as “SiC”) wafers by SiCrystal GmbH (hereinafter referred to as “SiCrystal”), a subsidiary of ROHM Group A long-term supply agreement is reached.

In the context of the rapid development of SiC power components and the rapid growth of demand, the two parties reached an agreement of over 120 million US dollars, from SiCrystal (the largest SiC wafer production in Europe) to ST (a global supplier of semiconductors for many Electronic devices). Semiconductor manufacturers) supply advanced 150mm SiC wafers.

ST Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Jean-Marc Chery

“The long-term supply agreement for SiC wafers reached with SiCrystal is based on the fact that our external production capacity has been guaranteed and our internal production capacity has been continuously improved. The cooperation between the two parties can ensure the amount of SiC wafers we need. , and achieve a balance that will allow ST to meet the strong demand growth from customers in the automotive and industrial equipment markets in the coming years.”

Robert Eckstein, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), SiCrystal, ROHM Group

“SiCrystal is a company under the ROHM Group, a leader in SiC, and has many years of experience in SiC wafer production. This time, we are very pleased to be able to sign this supply contract with our old customer ST. In the future, we will continue to increase the number of wafers. round supply and consistently deliver high reliability products to support our partners in expanding their SiC business.”

Power solutions using SiC are growing rapidly in the automotive and industrial equipment markets. The two parties will further promote the widespread adoption of SiC in these markets through this supply contract.
